A strong password is one of the most basic layers of email account security. However, simply creating a password that looks complex is not enough.
Use sufficient length
Password length is an important security factor. A long, unique and difficult-to-predict passphrase can be more effective than a short complex password.
Never reuse passwords
If a password leaked from another website is also used for business email, attackers may gain access to the mailbox through credential reuse.
Avoid personal information
Birth dates, company names, phone numbers and predictable words should not be used as passwords.
Consider a password manager
Using a different strong password for every service can be difficult. A trusted password manager can simplify this process.
Act quickly when something looks suspicious
If you suspect access from an unknown device, change the password immediately and notify your administrator.
